Consultancy & Training Manager
Homeless Link (UK)
Homeless Link is the national membership organisation for homeless agencies in the UK. I was employed to set up & develop Homeless Links new consultancy department & also had responsibility for the recovery of the training department with a core goal of income generation. I reported directly to the Head of Innovation & Good Practice but was expected to collaborate with all senior management within the organisation, including the CEO. I also worked very closely with the Marketing & Communications department. I achieved a break-even position within year one.
I successfully tendered for, managed & led on a diverse portfolio of consultancy projects. Examples include: development of a city-wide five-year dual diagnosis strategy; research & strategy development for a large social housing provider on personalised approaches; focussed service user consultation; intensive change management & organisational support to enable a provider to move from grade D to B under the Supporting People Quality Assessment Framework (quality standards for all government funded supported housing providers in the U.K.).
Other key achievements:
- The development all project management, risk management, contracting & administrative processes for the consultancy service.
- Development & implementation of a recovery plan for the training department, increasing training revenue from a £40,000 loss to £70,000 gross income (with £20,000 profit).
- Leaving Homeless Link with confirmed income to meet 100% of the current financial years consultancy income target (Apr 2010-Mar 2011) at August 2011 (£80,000).
I left Homeless Link to work independently with the wider voluntary sector & to increase my ability to focus on my MBA. I retained a positive relationship with Homeless Link & continued to undertake consultancy & training facilitation on their behalf, as an associate.
