Foyer Education & Learning Manager
Centrepoint Youth Homelessness (UK)
Centrepoint provides housing & support to homeless under 25’s. I was promoted into my first management position a little over a year after joining the organisation as a Vocational Guidance Worker. In my new role I grew the team from three to nine full time staff & all three Foyers achieved the International Foyer Federation Accreditation (a Foyer is a housing project which provides on-site educational, vocational and personal development opportunities). I also developed a soft outcome/distance travelled measurement tool (The Centrepoint Web and Wheel) for the learning & development department, which was later rolled out across all departments in the organisation. In 2004 I left Centrepoint & the UK to spend time living & working in New Zealand for my own personal & professional development.
My key responsibilities were:
- Line management of a team of support workers, tutors, advisers & guidance workers across 3 residential education & learning services (Centrepoint Foyers).
- Managing the provision of & development of those Education & Learning Services.
- Management of Education & Learning budget.
- Reporting to funders on spend & outcomes achieved.
- Writing funding bids & developing project ideas to attract monies from corporate & statutory funding streams.
